Fight Club
by chuck Palahniuk
I don’t know about you, but a long weekend away from Uni and work has certainly left me a bit confused as to what day of the week we are on! I must apologise for the tardiness of this week’s ‘Book of the Week’ but, I have provided you with an absolutely fascinating read so I am sure you will all finish the book just in time for the next instalment!

LIBrary’s ‘Book of the Week’ – Sunday 1st April – Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

Following the theme of rebellion from last week, this week’s ‘Book of the Week’ is Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik. If you have read my latest blog post, you will have seen me discuss this book not too long ago but, for those of you who haven’t… Fight Club follows an unnamed protagonist who is struggling from insomnia and finds comfort attending support group meetings for illnesses he pretends to be ailed with.

Once again, this week’s literary sensation was adapted into a film and, I have to confess that, on this occasion, I did watch the film before I read the book. Both the film and the novel are absolutely capturing. As a rare occasion, this is one of few books where I did not foresee the ending, and, for that, I truly commend Palahnuik. Now, if you’ve seen the film, I am sure you will remember that there are only two rules of Fight Club: the first is, you never talk about Fight Club and, the second is much the same. Following this principle, I will not reveal anything more about the book as I certainly don’t want to give any spoilers. Fight Club is unlike anything else I have ever read and, if you have actually read this one, then I certainly recommend delving into some of Palahnuik’s other sensational reads.
